Introduction to Junos Automation and DevOps

Course Overview

This three-day course provides students with introductory knowledge of how to automate Junos using DevOps automation tools, protocols, and technologies. Students receive hands-on experience with tools and languages relevant to automating the Junos OS platform in a DevOps environment. The course includes an introduction to the basic DevOps practices, Junos APIs, and NETCONF. It then focuses on using Python, PyEZ, Ansible, and REST API to automate Junos. XML, JSON, and YAML are introduced as these languages facilitate Junos automation. Through demonstrations and hands-on labs, students will gain experience in automating the Junos operating system and device operations. This course uses Junos OS Release 18.1R1, Junos PyEZ 2.1, and Ansible 2.5.

This course uses Juniper Networks vSRX Series Services Gateways for the hands-on component, but the lab environment does not preclude the course from being applicable to other Juniper hardware platforms running the Junos OS. This course focuses on the main configuration components of subscriber management, including subscriber authentication, authorization, and accounting (AAA), Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) local server and DHCP relay/proxy agent, the Point-to-Point Protocol (PPP), subscriber addressing, dynamic profiles, subscriber interfaces, Layer 3 and Layer 2 wholesale services, Pseudowire Head-end Termination (PHT), L2TP, dynamic firewall services, subscriber class of service (CoS), dynamic multicast services, basic NAT and CGN functions, and Subscriber Secure Policy (SSP, or Lawful Intercept). Course Overview

This three-day course is designed to provide students with the knowledge required to manage the Junos Space appliance and manage devices with Junos Space. Students will understand how to install Junos Space into a multinode Space Fabric, as well as learn how to administer and monitor the Fabric. Centralized Junos device management options offered by the Junos Space Network Management Platform will be explored, including configuration backup, synchronization, Junos image distribution, and application of templates. Students will also learn how to use Junos Space applications, such as Service Now and Service Insight.

Through demonstrations and hands-on labs, students will gain experience installing Junos Space into a multinode Space Fabric, navigating the administrative environment, monitoring the Fabric, performing schema updates, and using Junos Space applications. This course uses the Junos Space virtual appliance for the hands-on component and is based on Junos Space Release 17.1R1.7.
